Spin Zone

The wind at DFW was so stong as Rita passed by, the engines on this 757 spun as though they were running--I had never seen jet engines windmill so fast.

Hurricane Rita made for an interesting approach into Dallas. We flew in from the east, turned south for our downwind leg, then landed toward the north. Only mild turbulance in spite of ground winds between 25 and 35 miles per hour.

Fleeing Rita

Refugees from the Texas Gulf coast showed up this morning at my Dallas hotel. I overheard them say their road trip north took eleven and a half hours. The trip would normally take somewhere around five.
