Spin Zone

The wind at DFW was so stong as Rita passed by, the engines on this 757 spun as though they were running--I had never seen jet engines windmill so fast.

Remnants of Rita

Hurricane Rita made for an interesting approach into Dallas. We flew in from the east, turned south for our downwind leg, then landed toward the north. Only mild turbulance in spite of ground winds between 25 and 35 miles per hour.

Who You Gonna' Call?

This building in downtown Philly was used as the spook central in the movie Ghostbusters.

Fleeing Rita

Refugees from the Texas Gulf coast showed up this morning at my Dallas hotel. I overheard them say their road trip north took eleven and a half hours. The trip would normally take somewhere around five.

Why Blog?

I'm at a user conference hosted by a software company. The topic of this morning's workshop? Why ministries should have blogs.

Mission Bay at It's Best

Business brought my family to San Diego's beautiful Mission Bay. A wedding reception can be seen on the grass.

Training in Progress

Mom was teaching Miss M. to sit still today. The stool is the handiwork of Grandpa Flowers, and bears a traditional poem on the seat top.

Viva Mexico

My family vacationed on the east coast of Mexico's Yucatan pennisula. The snorkeling was spectacular. No wonder the local Mayans let their homes go to ruins.

Get Your Phil

I traveled to India with Phil in 1998 and 2000, respectively. Our journey in 2000 included a stop in Hong Kong. There's a hilarious story associated with this photo, taken at the Chek Lap Kok airport transit lounge. As usual, Phil tells the story best.

On Approach

My pastor's father passed away, and so I flew to the memorial service yesterday. On the way home, I stopped in SFO. While travel can be stressful, the flying, itself, is very relaxing. Notice the American 777 below and behind us.

Self Portrait
Our Alaska cruise began in Seattle. Anticipating the food awaiting us on board, we took a long run the day before leaving. We never could find the famous Space Needle.

North to Alaska

Steph, Madeline, and I just returned from a seven-day Alaska cruise. Cameras can't do the experience justice.
