Say "Sushi"

Dad and I were invited by a good friend in El Centro to join him on his sportfishing boat for a run to Mexico. We left out of San Diego 3:30 Friday morning and were back in the slip by 8:30 p.m.

The total for the boat was 8 fish--six albacore (pictured) and 2 dorado. A highlight was gathering in the galley late in the day to enjoy sushi made from the first fish brought aboard. Delicious. The time was great.

Tidepooling at Point Lobos Near Carmel

The girl and I spent the better part of an afternoon exploring Point Lobos Reserve. We saw--and heard--sea lions, watched harbor seals up close, wet our feet in ice-cold sea water, and hiked tidepools filled with crab. I've wondered more than once what memory, if any, she'll have of the trip. No doubts about mine.

Vacation on California's Central Coast

Steph's dad hosted our family for five days at a friend's home in Carmel. Highlights included running at Point Lobos State Reserve, a visit to Pebble Beach, and hiking Julia Pfeiffer State Park (above). The scenery was unparalleled.
